WeLikeMilngavie commission architects Page\Park

Tesco are clearly intent on developing a store very similar to the refused proposal - a massive four-storey high building, plus a multi-storey carpark, all shoe-horned into into the restricted site with little regard for context. Again it turns its back on the town centre. They have no intention of listening to the community except to make tiny tweaks.

WLM are therefore seeking the help of award-winning architects Page\Park, who state: "Fundamentally we recognise each place as special, unique and crucially demanding of respect. "

We have invited them to:

i. undertake a site appraisal addressing a wide range of issues including the setting of Gavin's Mill, the Conservation Area, the edge of Woodburn Way, pedestrian routes, car parking, public safety, townscape, urban design, landscape, etc. all from the perspective of the people who use the town centre and its facilities, including Tesco.

ii. develop ideas and define a framework of guidelines and parameters, illustrated through diagrams and sketches, which would effectively inform the context within which Tesco should be asked to adjust their proposals.
